Section 1–2
Core Group & Eligibility

Core Group consists of the race director and all invited attendees that participated in a YardKartz! event in 2024.

A YardKartz! event is any event taking place at The Handle Dirt Oval.

Invitation Requirements — guests must be invited by a core group member, and the race director notified prior to entering. Guests are the responsibility of the host. Race director has final say on any attendee's removal.

⚠ ABSOLUTELY NO PETS ALLOWED ON PREMISES DURING A YARDKARTZ! EVENT

Liability Waivers — ALL attendees MUST sign a liability waiver upon entering. Unaccompanied minors are not allowed. On film days, all attendees must sign a film release form.

Section 3
Conduct & Sportsmanship

Attendee Conduct — All attendees shall conduct themselves in a manner consistent with a conventional family setting. Be respectful to other attendees, drivers, officials, and the venue. Alcohol is permitted, excessive consumption is discouraged.

Driver Conduct — ALL drivers must conduct themselves at the highest level of professional motorsports. Attend ALL driver's meetings promptly. Race director can prohibit any driver from entering the track due to over intoxication or misconduct at any time.

Misconduct includes: fighting, unwanted physical conduct, intimidation, over intoxication, acts of disrespect, vandalism, theft, verbal altercations, safety violations, unsportsmanlike conduct, driving with intent to cause harm.

Consequences: verbal warning, exclusion from driving, points penalty, membership revocation, removal from premises, ban from premises.

Section 4
Racing Eligibility Requirements

Age & Licensing — All drivers must be 18 years of age or older and hold a current valid state driver's license. Race director can circumvent at his discretion.

Skill Requirements — Must demonstrate knowledge of all racing/pit procedures, flag and light interpretation, corner ID, track boundaries, and hand signals. Must demonstrate the skill to operate the vehicle at speed to avoid unnecessary collisions.

Limited Modified Class — Additional requirements: current year membership paid in full, official lap time of 14.29 sec or lower on a legal Stock Predator machine, minimum 12 kart grid in Stock Predator class established at the event.

Membership Fees — $75 non-refundable for 2026 season. Due by May 10, 2026 or first film day. Minimum 8 hrs/season of track/equipment maintenance labor required to retain membership.

Section 5
Track Safety

Track Crossing — Strictly prohibited except between rounds. Children must have a parent or guardian when crossing.

Hot Pit Lane Entry/Exit — Enter ONLY before Turn #3, exit ONLY after Turn #4.

⚠ NO DRIVER IS PERMITTED TO ENTER HOT PIT LANE COUNTER TO RACE DIRECTION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

Pit Lane Speed — Maximum 5 mph.

Pit Lane Organization — Must allow 2x the width of a kart to pass through at all times.

Individual Pit Areas — Maximum 10' x 12' including canopy. Must be kept clean and orderly throughout the event.

Outer Pit Drivers — Must enter infield pits immediately post race and wait for track personnel to allow crossing to outer pits.

Racing Flags & Lights
  • 🟢 Green — Race underway
  • 🟡 Yellow — Caution, no passing, single file, wait for restart. Driver causing yellow goes to rear of grid
  • 🟡 Yellow w/ Red Stripes — Debris on track, continue with caution
  • 🔴 Red — Stop race, proceed to pit in 2-wide order. Driver causing red goes to rear on restart. Red before 1 lap completed = full restart from original grid
  • ⬛ Black — Driver violation, pull into pits for instruction
  • ⬛ Black w/ Orange Circle (Meatball) — Mechanical issue, proceed to pits
  • ⬜ White — Final lap
  • 🏁 Checkered — Finish of race

Section 7
Race Procedures & Scoring

Gridding — 2-wide format in hot pit lane.

Qualifying — Number draw for qualifying position. Each driver completes a sighting lap then 2 flying laps.

Heats — Grid positions based on qualifying times. Grids over 16 karts split into multiple heats.

Scoring — Recorded by Lap Monitor timing system. Driver's responsibility to ensure transponder is correctly wired and functioning. Video camera set at start/finish line for all races.

Points — Awarded to A-Main finishers only. Must finish race in entirety.

Jumping Start Penalty — Black flag issued. Driver has 2 laps to return for a stop-and-go.

Post Race Tech — All drivers proceed directly to pit lane scales for weigh-in after each heat and main. Driver remains in kart until after weigh-in. Underweight = possible teardown and claim of suspect parts.

Appeals — Can be submitted verbally, by text, or email to race director. Response will be prompt.

Section 8
Driver Safety Requirements
⚠ NECK BRACE IS MANDATORY
  • Long pants
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Closed-toe shoes (steel-toe recommended)
  • Gloves
  • DOT Certified Full Face Street Bike Style Helmet (Snell recommended)

Prohibited: Open-toed shoes/sandals, capes, scarves, tear-off lenses

Section 9
Machine Safety Requirements
  • Bumpers — Front and rear required. Rear must cover both rear tires, loop/round bar. Front must extend forward of front wheels. OPEN TUBE FRONT BUMPER ONLY — NO NOSE OR BODIES.
  • Brakes — Functioning rear brakes required. All fasteners safety wired or locking clipped.
  • Rotor Guard — Required, durable material.
  • Axle Sprocket Guards — Required on both sides.
  • Nerf Bars — Required on both sides, minimum flush within 1" of outside of rear wheel.
  • Side Panels — Max 12" tall, no further than centerlines of front/rear axles. Front and rear tires must remain exposed. Top cannot extend more than 2" toward driver.
  • Steering — All fasteners safety wired or locking clipped.
  • Weight — Through bolted with nyloc or double nuts. ALL WEIGHT MUST BE PAINTED WHITE for visibility.
  • Chain Guard & Heat Shield — Required on all machines.
  • Throttle Return Spring — Must be functioning.
  • Kill Switch — Must be functioning.
Section 10–11
Tires, Numbers & Tech Inspection

Tires — Slick only, any brand. Can be shaped/surfaced. No grooved or siped tires. Max wheel diameter 6".

Front Number Plate — 6"x6", white background, black numbers, fastened to front of bumper.

Side Numbers — Minimum 7" tall, contrasting colors for visibility.

Rear Number Plate — Not required but recommended for accurate scoring.

Safety Inspection — ALL machines undergo mandatory safety inspection before being permitted on track for the first time. Helmets and apparel also inspected.

Section 13a
Stock Predator Class Rules

Chassis — Any year, make, model rigid kart chassis meeting Section 9 safety requirements.

Tires — Open compound and brand. Can be cleaned. External prep wipe only (no internal prep).

Engine — 212 Predator SKU# 60363 AND 69730 ONLY. Must remain completely stock with the following exceptions only:

  • Carburetor main jet replacement
  • Carburetor emulsion tube replacement / float level adjustment
  • Complete governor removal
  • Oil level sensor removal, fuel tank removal
  • Valve lash adjustment, valve lapping, valve spring replacement PN# 711055
  • Spark plug replacement
  • Ignition coil to flywheel gap adjustment
  • Aftermarket fuel pump mounting plate/throttle linkage
  • Diaphragm fuel pump installation
  • Stock airbox replaceable with aftermarket open air filter
  • Data ports allowed (EGT, vacuum, temp, etc.)
  • Drivers 420lb+ total weight: any aluminum flywheel permitted

Clutch & Gearing — Drum or disc clutch only, any brand. Open gearing.

Minimum Weight350 lbs kart + driver post-race. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Fuel — Gasoline only, any octane. No additives.

Section 13b
Limited Modified Class Rules

Chassis — Any year, make, model rigid kart chassis meeting Section 9 safety requirements.

Tires — Open compound and brand. Internal/external prep permitted.

Allowable Engines — Predator 212, Honda GX200, Tillotson 212. Cast block and head (no billet). Completely unmodified stock muffler.

Clutch & Gearing — Open clutch any brand, open gearing.

Weight — No minimum weight.

Fuel — Open fuel.
